DISPLAYED PRICES, SIDE COSTS

What the displayed price of management software almost never includes

The displayed price is a module or access price, it does not measure the first year of operation.

An SME comparing management software lines up amounts that do not measure the same thing. Some vendors publish nothing, others charge per access, per module, per document or per payslip, and several reserve access to their technical interface for a higher plan. This page gathers, source by source, what the pricing pages read on 23 August 2026 say and what they leave aside.

Two of the big Swiss suites publish no price

Of the products documented on 23 August 2026, two families display no amount. The on-site licence of Abacus Business Software has no pricing page, the budget can only be established through a partner's quote. At Infoniqa, neither the ONE 50 page nor the ONE 200 page carries a price, and on the ONE 50 page the pricing blocks display the mention CHF / Euro with no amount, the buy button pointing to the contact form.

Abacus does publish the rates of its AbaWeb subscriptions, from 10 francs per month for payroll accounting, from 22 francs for financial accounting and from 75 francs for the Finance packages. The page itself specifies that these amounts are exclusive of hosting costs, updates and the services of the AbaWeb provider or the fiduciary. What these figures measure is a module, the rest being referred to the provider.

The absence of a public price indicates nothing about the real level of the amount, it moves the comparison to the quote stage. For an SME the consequence is concrete: two columns of its table stay empty as long as it has not described its scope, its number of users and its modules, while the other columns fill up by reading a web page.

Per user, per access, per module or per payslip

The word price does not cover the same unit from one vendor to another. bexio sells a package with a number of users included, 35 francs per month before tax for Basic on annual invoicing, then a price per additional user. SelectLine charges per user and per module, 69 francs per user per month before tax for ERP Basis. WinBIZ charges per access, 84 francs per month before tax for WinBIZ Local, a subscription being installable and usable on a single workstation only.

Other models index the price on the volume processed. KLARA charges payroll per payslip, 4.90 francs, or 3.90 francs with a Business package. Crésus sizes its payroll module in brackets of five salaries, with a ceiling of 500 salaries per licence, each additional bracket costing 150 francs before tax at purchase. smallinvoice includes one, three or five users depending on the plan, then charges 10 francs per month for the additional user.

The only comparable figure is the one the company rebuilds itself, from the number of people who will really enter data, the number of documents processed in the year and the number of payslips issued each month. As long as these three quantities are not set, lining up entry prices amounts to comparing an individual subscription with a workstation and with a payslip counter.

Plugging the software into the rest of the tools sometimes changes the plan

At Odoo, the pricing page indicates that the Custom plan is the only one to include the external API, with Studio, multi-company and installation on your own server. An SME that wants to connect its online shop or its site tool therefore moves from 24,90 to 37,40 euros per user per month, or leaves Odoo Online, for Odoo.sh or its own server, which shifts the cost to hosting and operations.

The same jump exists elsewhere. SelectLine includes its API only from the Premium edition, at 119 francs per user per month instead of 69. Banana reserves its built-in web server for the Advanced plan, at 179 francs per year per user, and the vendor specifies that this server works read-only and listens only locally, which assumes a machine switched on and an open instance.

Conversely, several vendors open their interface with no displayed surcharge. smallinvoice includes API access from the Starter plan, at 15 francs per month. KLARA publishes 97 entry points spread over five domains, with no announced extra cost. The plan gap is read before the choice, since it takes a SelectLine subscription from 69 to 119 francs per user per month.

Configuration, data takeover and training appear on no pricing page

No pricing page read puts figures on the chart of accounts to adapt, the VAT codes to set, the roles to define, the takeover of balances and histories from the old tool, nor the training of the people who will enter data. These works nonetheless exist in every dossier, and their scale depends on the state of the starting data far more than on the software chosen. We publish no average, because no honest average can be calculated on these bases.

Some vendors write where their service ends. Banana.ch excludes accounting and tax advice from its services and charges support outside the subscription at 70 francs per 30-minute unit, advice from 140 francs per hour, in Switzerland and Liechtenstein only. Abacus indicates on its AbaWeb subscriptions page that the displayed prices include neither hosting, nor updates, nor the services of the provider or the fiduciary. At bexio, the onboarding services are invoiced apart from the package.

Without outbound notification, a link becomes a program to host

A link between two programs appears on no pricing page, and its cost hangs on a technical detail. When a vendor's documentation describes no outbound notification, the synchronisation has to be written as periodic polling, which assumes a running program, a place to run it and someone watching that it still runs. That is the case of most API documentations read on 23 August 2026, Odoo and AbaNinja being the exception.

KLARA documents it in black and white: there is no webhook, no change feed, no filter on the last modification date, so that comparing data falls to whoever builds the link. The same vendor writes that no separate test environment exists and every call works on production data, and that a rate limit applies without the threshold or the window being published, which forbids sizing a synchronisation in advance.

These are design parameters, to read before choosing rather than during commissioning, and they explain why the quote for a link does not resemble the price of a monthly subscription. The mechanics of these connections are treated on our page dedicated to connecting software.

Commitment and exit are decided the day you enter

WinBIZ publishes its terms in detail. The subscription runs over an initial period of twelve calendar months, renews tacitly by annual periods and terminates only with three months' written notice before the start of the renewal period, the licence staying limited to a single computer at a time. The vendor also writes that from the end of the contract the client can no longer access his WinBIZ Cloud data, and recommends printing or archiving the accounts as PDF before leaving.

Other plans leave the door open longer. Crésus sells a monthly rental terminable at thirty days next to the licence purchase, the annual Crésus+ subscription carrying updates and services. Banana sells an annual subscription per user, installable on at most five personal devices, and no longer sells a perpetual licence on its current plans.

Before signing, ask in what form the data comes back out, in how many gestures, and with what contractual notice. It is the least visible item of a budget, and it is paid at the moment the company has already decided to change. The move itself, format by format, is treated on our page dedicated to changing software.

Six checks before comparing two amounts

Rebuilding a first-year cost requires no accounting expertise, only asking each vendor the same questions and writing down the answers with their date. The list below takes up the points where the official sources diverge most, and therefore those where two apparently close offers stop being so.

  • The exact billing unit, user, access, module, document or payslip
  • What the price explicitly excludes, hosting, updates, partner services
  • The smallest plan that opens API access, and its price gap with the entry level
  • Who takes on the configuration and the takeover, and at what hourly rate
  • The commitment period and the notice for termination
  • The form in which the data comes back out, and in how many operations

SURVEY OF 23.08.2026

Frequently asked questions

How much does management software really cost a Swiss SME?

No single amount makes sense, because the vendors do not charge the same unit. Public entry prices range from capped free plans, at Banana, smallinvoice and Odoo, through 89 francs per year at Banana for the first paid plan, 15 francs per month at smallinvoice, up to 84 francs per month per access at WinBIZ Local, while Abacus in on-site licence and Infoniqa publish no rate. A budget is built by adding the subscription computed on the real number of users, the documented fees outside the subscription, then the onboarding works that appear on no pricing page.

What should you prepare to get a quote from Abacus or Infoniqa?

The list of what you want to run, because the price depends on an assembly. At Infoniqa, the ONE 50 page sells per module, finance, finance with sub-ledgers, trade, payroll and People, and per level, Basic, Advanced or Expert, the level also bounding payroll, 25 employees in Basic, 50 in Advanced, 100 in Expert. At Abacus, the AbaWeb subscription counts per module and per client file and is taken out with a fiduciary or an AbaWeb provider. So prepare your modules, the number of people who will enter data and the number of payslips, those are the three inputs of the calculation.

bexio's displayed price, is that the final price?

It is the package price, before tax, for the number of users included and on annual invoicing. Basic is displayed at 35 francs per month on annual against 45 francs on monthly, and each additional user is charged on top, 21 francs on Advanced and 13.80 francs on Optima. Modules remain as options, bexio Pay is displayed at 14 francs per month and comes included in the Ultimate package. The onboarding services are invoiced apart and do not appear on the pricing page.

How much does configuring management software cost?

We publish no average, because the work depends on the state of your current data far more than on the software retained. Have four batches priced separately, the chart of accounts and the VAT codes, the takeover of opening balances, the takeover of histories and documents, then the training of the people who will enter data. Ask for each who carries it, the vendor, its reseller or you, and on what basis it is invoiced. A batch nobody declares themselves responsible for during pre-sales always comes back on the table during commissioning.

Does an API included in the subscription cover the whole software?

Not necessarily, and that is checked before paying the plan that opens it. KLARA publishes 97 entry points, 36 of them for finance and accounting and 44 for sales and articles, but only 3 for payroll. At smallinvoice, the specification's 102 paths spread over contacts, debtors, catalogue, reports, configuration and authentication, the suppliers part and the accounting module not being exposed on the day of reading. The right question to ask the vendor is about the objects you really have to exchange, not about the existence of an API.

What happens when I cross my subscription's tier?

The cost climbs in steps, and each vendor places the step elsewhere. bexio includes a number of users per package then charges the next ones individually. KLARA bounds its Business BASIC package at three administrators. smallinvoice includes one, three or five users depending on the plan and charges 10 francs per month for the additional user. Crésus grows its payroll module in brackets of five salaries, at 150 francs before tax per bracket at purchase, with a ceiling of 500 salaries per licence. So simulate your headcount at three years, not today's.

Does a free plan let you start with no budget?

Several exist and are real, but each carries a precise ceiling that decides its lifespan. Banana offers a Free plan with no time limit, capped at 70 entry lines, with unlimited Cash Manager and Time Sheet. smallinvoice opens a free plan usable up to 70 000 francs of cumulative document amounts. Odoo offers One App Free, a single application with an unlimited number of users. So look at the ceiling before the function, it fixes the moment the bill begins.

Rebuilding the first-year cost, item by item

We sell no licences. We rebuild with you the documented first-year cost for the two or three offers you have in hand, billing unit, fees outside the subscription, onboarding works and exit terms. This diagnostic is free for you.
